Joining MTC

Rather than go into a tiresome explanation of why you should or shouldn’t join MTC, I’ll make a similar argument with my own personal experiences and hopefully you will find this helpful.

Reason you SHOULD join MTC
  • ·      You spend a majority of your time with kids
  • ·      You don’t go to work on the weekends
  • ·      There is 0 traffic in Mississippi
  • ·      Student-Faculty Basketball Games
  • ·      Student-Faculty Volleyball Games
  • ·      Assemblies
  • ·      Showing students the steps to get into college is incredibly rewarding
  • ·      Helping to run a middle school dance on a Friday night sounds like a good time
  • ·      If you work really hard, you see incredible changes in your students
  • ·      Telling your students how well they did on the MCT2 rivals any other good feeling
  • ·      You will become a better a teacher
  • ·      You have a lot of energy
  • ·      You have a strong work ethic
  • ·      Quitting has never been an option
  • ·      Your golf game may improve due to all the flat fields to practice
  • ·      The support through MTC is unbeatable
  • ·      You could picture yourself living in a 3rd world country
  • ·      Creating a school wide discipline policy sounds like something that may be fun
  • ·      You can keep work when surrounded by inefficiency
  • ·      You can thrive while being constantly tested by teenagers
  • ·      You are HUMBLE

Reason you SHOULD NOT join MTC
  • ·      You spend a majority of your time with kids
  • ·      You have class every other weekend
  • ·      You will likely feel isolated from friends and family
  • ·      You are paid for 40 hours but work at least twice that
  • ·      Quitting is EVER an option
  • ·      You like to sleep in
  • ·      You won’t have enough time to play golf
  • ·      You are unsure you want to teach
  • ·      You want to join something everyone knows about
  • ·      You like to live around Target…or any other national chain outside of Wal-Mart and McDonald’s.
  • ·      You like to tutor kids and figure that’s what teaching is like
